If there is one location on this earth that I am terrified of, it is the depths of the seas. You never know what type of gigantic terrifying beast may be hiding in the dark unending ocean. And the most recent encounter between humans and such massive monsters occurred just a few days ago off the coast of Cornwall, England.
Lizzie Daly, a scientist, comes face to face with a massive jellyfish while diving. And by gigantic, I mean at least the size of a human being. Despite the fact that barrel jellyfish are the largest of the species, this is the first time such a massive one has been sighted.
“It’s known to grow this big, but I’ve never seen one this huge,” Daly told CBS News.
“Woah!!!!! We went diving in Falmouth yesterday to finish off #WildOceanWeek and came across this GIANT barrel jellyfish! What a way to finish off this marine wildlife adventure!” the diver wrote in a Tweet.
Lizzie, who dove with marine photographer Dan Abbot, said the excursion was more than she could have imagined. Their excursion was part of the wildlife presenter’s Wild Ocean Week program.
“I want to take the audience along for the ride, so I’ll be posting videos and updates as they happen during the week.”
“Diving with seals, swimming with blue sharks, and generally celebrating our coasts,” Lizzie Daly said in a statement. “#WildOceanWeek is about showcasing how you can immerse yourself with diverse wildlife right on your doorstep and, most importantly, supporting those at the forefront of conserving our marine environments.”
