To make his cooped-up cows believe they’re outside in a meadow, a farmer has turned to virtual reality headsets.
Turkey’s Izzet Kocak has adopted the high-tech helmet after reading a research that claims it makes cows happy. As a result, they are able to produce more milk.
According to Kocak, the decision is already paying dividends. He gave the headsets to two of his cows, and milk output increased from 22 to 27 liters each day.
He stated, “
They are looking at a green field, which offers them a psychological lift. They’re less agitated.
Izzet has previously attempted to calm his livestock by playing classical music. He claims, however, that the headsets have pleased him so much that he wants to purchase 10 more.
The Russian Ministry of Agriculture believes the trick is effective. Officials said in a statement released in 2019:
Cow health and, as a result, the quality and amount of milk produced, are greatly influenced by environmental factors.
