Alex Verheul and his family had left a GoPro on the balcony of the Luxmore Hut in New Zealand’s Fiordland National Park. It didn’t take long for a cheeky Kea (alpine parrot) to appear, grab the camera by the strap, and fly away. In doing so, the bird captured stunning footage of the park that the family would not have gotten otherwise if the bird had not come by.
Verheul explains how they were able to reclaim the camera by following the sound of the parrot. Luca Verheul, Verheul’s son, discovered the missing camera, despite the fact that the case had been ripped off the back.
