Shelly Blount phoned the shelter right after after seeing a post online last week about a dog that was due to be euthanized in North Carolina. They informed her the dog had just been adopted, which relieved her, but it made her wonder about the other pets who may be in danger. Blount got in her car after asking if there were any more dogs slated to be put down. They told her that a dog called Caleb was next on the list.
Blount drove four hours from Virginia to the shelter with a buddy, hoping to save Caleb. When she arrived, she discovered that two more dogs were set to be put down. Blount instantly realized what she needed to do, despite having three other rescue dogs at home.
Blount told The Dodo, “I inquired the limit on how many you could adopt.” “They stated it didn’t exist.” As a result, I opted to purchase all three.”
Blount had expected to leave with just Caleb when she arrived at the shelter that day, but instead she departed with Caleb, Charisma, and Bella.
Blount knew she had done the right thing as they started the long trip home, and all three dogs were overjoyed and couldn’t control their joy.
Caleb was “sooo delighted,” Blount recalled, “he started offering kisses from the back car and his tail was wagging so quickly.” “Bella was so happy to be held that she sat in my friend’s lap and didn’t move at all.” Charisma, my darling little angel, slept the entire way and was physically cuddling me.”
Blount didn’t have a strategy when she opted to adopt all three dogs. She knew she couldn’t abandon them at the shelter, but she also didn’t have room at home for three more dogs — thankfully, she’d already found the greatest new homes for both Caleb and Bella within days.
“Caleb is ecstatic in his new home with one of my friends,” Blount added. “She has a second Lab that he adores.” Bella went to see my guy, and let’s just say they’re a match made in heaven.”
Blount will almost certainly retain Charisma, since the two have grown close in the days following the rescue. In any case, Charisma would have to stay with Blount for a while, since she discovered the adorable little puppy was pregnant following a vet appointment.
Blount had no idea Charisma was pregnant with five to six puppies since no one at the shelter had notified him. Blount not only rescued Charisma that day, but she also saved her puppies’ life, for which Charisma is eternally thankful.
“My Charisma girl is extremely devoted to me, and because she’s so drowsy, we take a lot of cat naps,” Blount said.
Charisma is expecting her first child in less than a week, and her new family is ecstatic. Meanwhile, she’s spending a lot of time snuggling with her new mother and closest friend, whom she thanks every day for saving her life.
