Humans and animals may have the closest of friendships, yet it’s still difficult for us to become close to the fiercest wild animals. Regardless, this man was the one who pulled it off. He became a member of the pride as a result of his love for lions, earning him the title of Lion Whisperer!
Kevin Richardson has spent almost his entire life working to better understand and conserve these magnificent creatures. He used to live among the lions, so he was familiar with their behaviors and knew how unpredictable they could be. Kevin came across a sight while working for the Lion Park crew in South Africa a few years ago that demonstrated how difficult life in the woods can be. A lioness abandoned her two newborn cubs, but Kevin, who happened to be nearby, decided to intervene and save the helpless babies.
Kevin has transported the two cubs to a sanctuary outside Johannesburg, where they will receive all of the assistance and care they require. He named the two little lionesses Meg and Amy, and they developed into confident predators over time.
Kevin, the sanctuary’s founder, believes that animals may be rescued “through education, outreach, and finance.” “Our goal is to raise awareness about the increasing extinction of large carnivores in Africa as a result of habitat degradation, human-predator conflict, and pouching.”
All of these things are achievable, and there’s no better proof than Kevin’s two lion cubs, who he rescued over seven years ago and are now fully grown adults!
Kevin decided to pay a visit to the lioness he saved after all these years. Anyway, he was concerned since he didn’t know whether they would remember him. But he was completely wrong. A wild animal, it turns out, never forgets a loving heart, and neither did Meg and Amy. Kevin used a GoPro camera to capture the emotional reunion, and the outcome is incredible.
Here’s where you can catch up on the action:
Kevin and the two lionesses have an exceptional friendship that is based on love and respect. “Meg and Amy are like soul mates to me.” “It’s similar to humans in that you can meet a lot of individuals in your life,” the Lion Whisperer explained. “However, there are just a handful with whom you feel completely at ease.”
There is no higher satisfaction for Kevin than watching these magnificent felines happy! “It was thrilling to witness the lions performing what lions do for me.” It made me realize there was another way to work with these captive predators. He explained, “Meg, Amy, and I have a history that dates back to when they were born.”
