For every wildlife fan, close encounters with wild creatures must be a dream come true, although certainly not as near as this Irish visitor got. The man received the surprise of his life while on a safari in Kenya’s Masai Mara reserve when an adult wild cheetah approached too near for comfort. The entire incident was captured on video, and it is too heart-pounding to watch!
Mickey McCaldin, an Irish safari guide, was on his way to the Masai Mara when the group of cars stumbled upon the Masai Mara’s most famous cheetah family. Everyone was enthralled by the gorgeous cats, but some of them went a little too near. Some of the cheetahs were unconcerned about human presence and hopped into a vehicle, but one of them was more interested and leaped into the backseat of a car.
Cheetahs, despite their attractive appearance and welcoming demeanor, are fearless predators that may be highly lethal. As a result, you can probably imagine what your reaction might be if you were confronted with such a beast. As a result, McCaldin, who was sitting there at the time, couldn’t find his responses any more. David Horsey, a close friend of McCaldin’s, was seated in front of him and captured the scene on tape.
“I’ve lived in Kenya my whole life and I’ve never seen anything like this,” Horsey, a Kenyan from Mombasa, told Caters News. “He [the cheetah] simply wasn’t afraid to come up close and personal.” Mickey seemed unconcerned at first, but I believe he was worried it would attempt to sit in his lap. You surely don’t want that, unlike a domestic cat.”
The cheetah left the truck after a few seconds, which seemed like an eternity to McCaldin. Then, from a short distance, a pack of wild cats stared at the tourists before disappearing into the distance.
“Once it grew tired of Mickey, it turned away and stared out the window for a few minutes,” Horsey, 62, explained. “After that, it simply sprang out.”
