The European countryside has served artists and writers alike as a rich source of creative inspiration. Many Impressionist painters like Monet and Pissarro have captured delicate gardens, bucolic hills, and serene lakes in their paintings. Contemporary artist Anastasia Trusova looks to her surroundings in a slightly different way.
Born in Russia and currently based in Belgium, Trusova says “I want to show the variability of nature and the beauty of the moment, as I see it.” Although she studied painting and design at university, it was only after an 8-year hiatus from the art world that Trusova began releasing images of her current projects on her Instagram. Very quickly, Trusova gained a dedicated fanbase, and, looking at her artwork, it’s easy to see why. Each of the Russian artist’s landscape paintings bursts with psychedelic color and riveting texture. Not only does Trusova use layers of acrylic paint to enrich the mood of the scene, but she also adds decadent texture to complete the composition.
