Being a bus driver is an important job, but this day, the usual route became something quite special.
When this driver discovered a strange box on the bus, which turned out to contain two puppies, he quickly realized it was an emergency.
Despite the ongoing war in Ukraine and its harsh realities, animal welfare organizations like Love Furry Friends continue their tireless work. They step in to rescue pets that have been left behind as more and more families are forced to flee the country. The rescue efforts began in 2018, thanks to a single, animal-loving soul— Olena.
In April 2023, Love Furry Friends and Olena received a call from a concerned bus driver that would spark a much-needed rescue operation. The driver had stumbled upon a box containing two tiny, vulnerable puppies abandoned at a bus stop on the outskirts of the city. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, he immediately reached out to a nearby animal shelter.
Worried about how long the puppies had been left out in the cold, the shelter team jumped into action and rushed to the scene. What they found were two little female puppies, soaking wet, shivering, and covered in matted fur from neglect. But despite everything they’d been through, these pups still had the sweetest spirits.
They greeted their rescuers with wagging tails and soft nuzzles, their trusting nature shining through in the most heartwarming way. It was a powerful reminder of their resilience.
Sadly, it’s all too common for people to abandon female puppies, often because they don’t want to spend the money on sterilization. We don’t know the specifics in this case, but the most important thing is that someone saved those poor little lives.
The shelter immediately started feeding the puppies to help them regain their strength. After a failed attempt to clean them up with regular puppy shampoo, the team decided it was time for a little extra TLC and took the puppies to a beauty salon for a proper scrub-down.
Soon, the little cuties were also given names — Leya and Mia. After receiving the care they desperately needed, they emerged looking clean, healthy, and absolutely adorable.
Sadly, things weren’t all smooth sailing — Leya and Mia were diagnosed with a condition called demodicosis, which required additional treatment.
Despite their health challenges, the puppies remained joyful and full of energy. Their rescue and transformation serve as a heartwarming reminder of the vital role animal shelters play, offering the care and attention that animals in need deserve.
Thanks to Olena’s tireless rescue work, two very young pups, Mia and her sister Leya, were given a second chance at life.
These sweet, adorable pups are sure to melt your heart, and we can only hope they grow up safe, loved, and cherished in their forever homes soon.
