Dog Who’s Never Been Inside Before Takes Her First Nap In A Real Bed
Now she’s a total Velcro dog ❤️️
For all of Sundae’s life, the only world she had known was a junk-filled backyard and the cold floor of a garage. She had never stepped inside a house — not once. The coonhound/Labrador retriever mix was one of many dogs rescued from a hoarding situation in Oklahoma City by Country Roads Animal Rescue Society. In that harsh, outdoor environment, Sundae even gave birth to a litter of puppies.
But everything changed the moment she entered her foster home.
It was the first time she had ever experienced warmth, comfort — or a real bed. And the second Sundae lay down to rest, her entire expression shifted. The look of relief on her face was instant. She finally felt safe.
In the words of her foster mom, who goes by the Reddit username Mugglequeen, “We’ve had her for about a week, and you would never know that she’s never been an indoor dog before.”

Despite her past, Sundae turned out to be completely potty trained, remarkably gentle, and incredibly polite in the house. It was clear she had waited a long time for this kind of life — and was ready to embrace it fully.
The name “Sundae” was given to her because of her sweet nature and her beautiful mix of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel-colored fur. Initially, she was wary of men, but her foster mom had a clever idea. She left her boyfriend’s shorts on the bed — Sundae’s new favorite spot. Over time, Sundae associated his scent with safety and began to warm up to him.
Now, Sundae is the definition of a Velcro dog — she never wants to leave her foster mom’s side. “She loves to sleep as close as possible to me in bed,” Mugglequeen shared. “I think she’s just making up for eight-ish years of zero affection.”
She’s also finally receiving the medical care she needs. While the vet discovered she’s heartworm positive and in need of some dental work, her overall health is good. Meanwhile, all of her puppies are safe in the care of other loving foster families.
Today, Sundae’s only job is to heal, relax, and wait for her forever family — one that will love her as fiercely as she loves in return.
“Her perfect family would have a very chill lifestyle and have a ton of patience to help her continue to come out of her shell and gain confidence,” Mugglequeen said. “She will stay with me until her perfect forever family comes along!”
Let’s hope that day comes soon — for a mama dog who’s already lost so much, but still has so much love to give.
