We’re used to seeing animals from above, eye level, or behind a lens—but what if we turned the world upside down?
Lithuanian photographer Andrius Burba (@andriusb1) set out to answer that question in his witty and mesmerizing photo series Underlook, capturing horses and other animals from below through a glass surface.

To achieve this surreal perspective, Burba placed the animals on a strong, transparent glass platform positioned above a deep pit. The result? A completely new way of seeing creatures we thought we already knew—showing soft bellies, fluffy hooves, and funny angles that reveal both strength and vulnerability.

In one of his most striking sessions, Burba photographed horses—majestic animals usually viewed from the ground up—revealing their incredible musculature, elegant legs, and unexpectedly comical expressions. The project required patience, trust, and careful setup to keep the animals calm and safe during the shoot.

What makes Underlook so captivating is not just the technical challenge but the joy and humor it brings. Seeing cats, dogs, rabbits, and even horses from below reminds us that beauty exists in every angle—if we’re just curious enough to look differently.
