The eggs hatched hundreds of chicks in the Georgia town of Marneuli in a dump from a nearby chicken farm.
The eggs were thrown away by the company’s management because they were thought to be rotten. Hundreds of chickens were running on the area of a landfill a few days later.
The birds were all taken home, according to Temur Abazov, the mayor of Marneuli.
“They assumed the eggs were spoiled. Finally, they arrived at a rocky outcropping where it was always warm. These eggs were raised in roost-like circumstances. As a result, a large number of birds survived,” he added.
Sahib Aslanov, a Facebook user, posted a video of a running junkyard chicken on his profile.
Marneuli is a tiny village around 30 kilometers from Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital. Ethnic Azeris make up the majority of the population of Marneuli.
