Rust Valley Restorers is a 2018 Canadian documentary, premiered first on the History Canada channel. The show’s first three seasons gained a huge loyal fan base across the globe. Its popularity forced Netflix executives to premiere its third season on its streaming platform. The first two seasons were quite long, with 8 and 12 episodes, whereas the third installment on Netflix has only six episodes.
The documentary revolves around a retired construction company owner, Michael “Mike” Hall, whose love for classic cars made him invest all his hard-earned money in a car restoration company, named Rust Bros Corporation. According to him, it is estimated at around 2 million dollars.
In his business, his son Connor helps him along with his old acquaintance/best friend, Avery Shoaf, the lead mechanic of the shop. The anticipation for season 4 among fans arose when it came on Netflix, as it is quite amusing because Netflix usually doesn’t buy the copyrights of documentaries.
Rust Valley Restorers Season 4 Renewal Status
As per sources, there is no latest update received on the renewal status. But, since Netflix has now acquired the show’s copyrights, there is a high possibility that the show might return for season 4.
Netflix has an old habit of renewing shows for at least two seasons. Going by those statistics, we can assume that the executives of Netflix will go for a fourth installment. The show was also able to garner good ratings over both Netflix and IMDB, so it was quite expected that there was a long way to go for the show.
The show is a documentary, centralized over a car restoration company, so it was quite different for the audience, as they didn’t get to see daily a documentary based on the restoration of classic cars. It might be the reason the show became three seasons long. But, neither the producers nor the executives of Netflix, said anything over the renewal status.
Rust Valley Restorers Season 4 Release Date
The two seasons of the show were released in a gap of 11 months. The time gap between the second and third one was only six months. It was because of the first two seasons being released by History Canada channel, on the other hand, Netflix released the third season.
So predicting a release date is slightly tricky, but since the show is now in the hands of Netflix, we can hopefully guess the release date to be near early 2021. But now, we know the situation that the world is facing, coronavirus, which has stalled all works until further notice. Considering this scenario in mind, the fourth installment might take up to August 2021.
Even after the virus comes in control, many safety conditions like social distancing rules, sanitizers and masks on set, and regular medical checkups are available. These things will consume time and can escalate the release date further. The director and producers have refused to comment on anything about the release date.
Rust Valley Restorers Season 4 Cast
Since it’s a documentary, addition or removal of a cast member will be in a grave situation, like in the third season when Mike’s mother, Berthe Hall, passed away. So, most of the cast will remain the same playing their original versions in the documentary. (check: B The Beginning Season 2.)
In the finale episode, Mike’s best friend Avery Shoaf took a cut from the team, as he started his venture. So, his role can become more of a professional rival in the second installment, or he might return to Mike’s team. In both scenarios, the character is going to become equal to the titular role of Mike’s.
Other team members like Greg Preece, the lead body man at the shop, Ricky Hamerston, the chief welder, and Mike’s professional rival JF, will make time-to-time guest appearances on the show. Since Avery is going to start his venture, there might be new members, for the job of a welder, mechanic, lead body, etc.
Rust Valley Restorers Season 4 Plot
Since it was a documentary, it was quite hard to find what will happen in season 4. Some clues were left in the previous installment, which might give a guess to fans about a future storyline.
Avery Shoaf had left the group and started his venture, so a friend turned foe like the story could be seen in the next installment. A professional rivalry between friends can be healthy or cunning in season 2. Both situations can happen in the upcoming season.
Avery might realize his mistake or suffer some losses in his venture, which will make him come back to his friend. It could be a possible scenario.
Now, Mike’s mother is no more, his son Connor will give him emotional support, which will improve the father-son bond and be a delight to watch on screen. Till now, the cast members have refused to divulge any information related to the storyline.
