“It really did feel like the universe congratulating us.”
When Rachel Franco and Alexander Oyen eloped on Flagstaff Mountain in Colorado, it was supposed to be just them and a photographer. Instead, two furry wedding crashers arrived up unexpectedly and brightened their day.
The mountain appeared silent before morning – until Franco knew they were being observed.
“We had just concluded our vows and had our first kiss as a married couple, and as I was breaking away from the kiss, I was like, ‘I believe something is on me?'” Franco revealed to The Dodo. “When I opened my eyes, there was the most beautiful husky there.”
Freya, a husky, chose to attend the wedding, followed by her brother, Bruno. Fortunately, Franco and her husband like dogs, and having two as surprise witnesses couldn’t have been more convenient.
“This blew our minds,” Franco remarked. “It felt like the world was praising us or informing us that we were on the right track.” All we ever want is for dogs to come up to us and disrupt our lives, and this felt funny and right.”
The owner of the dogs saw that his pups were getting a little too comfy and attempted to call them away. However, the dogs insisted on taking part in the wedding photographs, particularly Freya.
“When she first raced up to us, she leaned on my legs and just kind of gave over her full weight in the hopes of petting, which we clearly were up for,” she said “Franco said. “She came up to us numerous times to smell my flowers and the length of my gown.”
The dogs even assisted Oyen, who suffers from a fear of heights, in relaxing. “I believe it helped him feel better to watch these dogs simply running around and having fun in this location they were obviously acquainted with,” Franco added.
Franco will remember her moment on top of the mountain with her husband and two surprise wedding guests fondly.
“I really loved our tiny ceremony and the time we spent up there,” said Franco. “My husband looked so dashing, and I was just so delighted and privileged to be there with him.”
