She helped him get free by giving him tiny belly rubs. ๐
Veronica Galindo was at work at the veterinarian’s office when she observed a frog poking out of a utility hole outside. She noticed the small frog wasn’t simply hanging there as she came closer. He was genuinely in a bit of a bind.
Galindo opened the utility door to see if she could pull him out, but she was surprised to find that he was much more trapped than he appeared to be. The unfortunate frog was actually rather large, with a swollen tummy, which was most likely how he’d been caught. Galindo had no idea how she was going to free him, but she knew she had to give it a shot.
Galindo said on TikTok, “I assume [he] leapt on top of the hole and fell in, then grew bloated in a panic believing he was being devoured.”
Galindo remained with the frog for a long, stroking his tummy and attempting to bring him into a less swollen position, determined to help him break free. The swelling began to subside after a while, and it appeared like they were getting closer to being able to wriggle him free.
The frog was able to twist himself sideways and move his legs as he attempted to get free. Galindo let him push off with her hands, and the two of them tried to figure it out as a team. Pinto, one of the vet dogs, tried to help as well, but he wasn’t quite as effective.
The not-so-little frog was ultimately set free after a lot of maneuvering. Galindo took him in his arms and checked to see whether he was okay before releasing him into the grass. She and Pinto said their goodbyes, and as she wished him well, she expressed her honest desire that he would never go near another hole.
