Animal welfare workers in Minnesota rescued 47 cats discovered living in a car with their owner.
The animals were rescued after temperatures outside reached 32 degrees Celsius, making the inside of the car considerably warm.
The owner had lately become homeless but refused to relinquish his pets.
They were discovered in the car while it was stopped in a rest stop, yet despite the extreme heat, the cats had very minor medical difficulties.
After the cats have been treated, they will be sterilised and available for adoption.

This is a very sad case, the owner of the cats was going through a stressful life event. He seems to love the cats who are probably the only light in his life. Under the circumstances it,s likely he has confused the priorities of life being in a desperate situation. I,m not justifying his act but he is more in need of support and guidance. I,m glad the cats were found and another tragic situation avoided
