Poor little Mojo didn’t have the easiest start in life. When the pit bull puppy was only four months old, he was surrendered to an animal shelter in terrible condition. His tiny body was covered in mange, and his skin was raw and painful. It was clear he had been neglected for a long time.
But fate had other plans for Mojo. Thanks to a kind-hearted man named Joey Wagner, the sweet pup was given a second chance at life — and it’s something he would never forget.
Joey, who runs the Baie Ste. Marie Animal Society in Nova Scotia, Canada, immediately felt a connection when he saw Mojo for the first time. Joey later said that Mojo’s “whole body was a complete scab,” and he knew he had to act fast.
Without hesitation, Joey rushed the suffering puppy to the vet, where Mojo was placed in intensive care and began receiving treatment for his severe skin condition.
“The look he gave me — I knew he wanted to live,” Joey told CBC. “So, we did everything we could.”
Thanks to proper medical care and love, Mojo slowly began to heal. Within a week, his condition improved, and his playful, loving nature began to shine through once more.
But there was still one thing missing — a forever home where he could finally feel safe, loved, and protected.
When the day finally came for Mojo to meet his new owner, shelter staff could barely hold back tears. As soon as the door opened, Mojo froze for a moment… and then his tail started wagging uncontrollably.
The man standing before him wasn’t a stranger — it was Joey, the same person who had saved his life.
Mojo leapt into Joey’s arms, showering him with kisses and refusing to let go. The touching reunion melted hearts everywhere, reminding the world that animals never forget kindness.
Today, Mojo is completely healthy and living his best life alongside Joey — his rescuer, best friend, and family.
A healthy diet can transform your dog’s life
Just like humans, dogs thrive when they’re given the right nutrition. Vets recommend a balanced diet rich in omega-3s, antioxidants, and protein to keep a dog’s coat shiny, immune system strong, and heart healthy. Adding fresh ingredients like salmon, sweet potatoes, and leafy greens to your dog’s meals can dramatically improve their mood, energy, and longevity. Investing in your pet’s health not only prevents future vet visits but also gives them a longer, happier life by your side.
Give Every Animal a Second Chance
Mojo’s story is a powerful reminder that every animal deserves love, safety, and a second chance at life. Countless dogs and cats are still waiting in shelters for someone to rescue them, care for them, and protect them from harm. If you already have a pet, make sure they’re healthy and protected — regular veterinary checkups, proper nutrition, and pet insurance can make all the difference when emergencies happen.
And if you’re thinking about adopting, reach out to a local animal rescue foundation or shelter program — your compassion could save a life just like Joey saved Mojo’s. Every act of kindness toward an animal creates ripples of hope, healing, and unconditional love that truly change the world. 🐾
This is so touching! Please share Mojo and Joey’s story with all your friends who love animals.
