For the past 14 years, Beth Moon, a photographer living in San Francisco, has been hunting for the world’s oldest trees. She has traversed the world to photograph the most majestic trees that thrive in distant regions and appear to be as ancient as the earth itself.
“As the world’s biggest and oldest living monuments, I hope these symbolic trees will take on more significance, especially at a time when our emphasis is geared toward finding better ways to live with the environment,” Moon says in her artist statement.
Sixty of Beth Moon’s duotone photographs were included in the book “Ancient Trees: Portraits Of Time.” Here’s a sneak peek at the book, which is filled with the oddest and most stunning trees ever.
