No one could ever say no to some quality time spent sitting on a plush sofa while watching their favorite television show. However, if this is your everyday habit, it may be a little much. That’s how this sluggish kangaroo spends his days. Everyone, meet Rufus, the world’s most spoilt joey.
Rufus’ life wasn’t always like this when he was over four years old. The kangaroo was rescued at the age of eight months and ended up at the Patch Kangaroo Sanctuary in Boston, South Australia. Fortunately, in Kym Haywood and her husband Neil, the sanctuary’s administrators, he received all the love and comfort he needed. Because both the compassionate couple and the rescued kangaroo developed strong bonds, Kym and Neil chose to keep Rufus within their home. He now acts as if he owns the house, or at the very least the sofa.
Rufus enjoys spending his days lounging on the plush sofa and cuddling with his father. However, Neil and Kym quickly realized that the sofa might not be large enough to accommodate all of them. Rufus, on the other hand, wants it all for himself and, on occasion, for his father. Because he occasionally begs Neil for belly rubs, which Neil cheerfully does.
“When he first started doing it, we thought it was the sweetest thing ever,” Kym continued, “and we could tell that Rufus was extremely different from the others in terms of how much he liked the sofa and felt secure there.” “He falls asleep quickly because he knows he’ll be secure there, and he doesn’t mind watching a little TV.”
The Haywoods, on the other hand, don’t seem to worry that there’s no more room on the couch for them. The most essential thing for them is to observe if Rufus is content and pleased!

Rufus’ mother explained, “We basically just go along with what makes him happy.” “He becomes a little irritable, and if he doesn’t want to be disturbed by us sitting next to him, he gently pushes us away.”
These lovely couple adore Rufus as if he were their own child, but they also have a compassion for other animals in need. At their refuge, they are now caring for 28 rescued kangaroos, two wombats, and two wallaroos. “I’ve always loved animals, and now that I have the refuge, I know what I was here on this Earth to accomplish,” Kym proudly stated.
