Meet Casey, the Border Collie who wanted to be with his owner so badly that he journeyed 50 miles across the UK in two months. Casey’s story began when his owner, Carole Fossett, left him in the care of a friend when she relocated.
Carole’s friend’s Collie escaped from her home in Spilsby, Lincolnshire, and went lost for several weeks. “We didn’t hear anything, and I assumed he was dead,” Fossett told The Telegraph.
Devastated, Fossett decided to start a Facebook campaign in order to be reunited with her dog. She quickly received three calls from across the country reporting Casey had been sighted on his trek, but no one had been able to apprehend him. Carole then received a phone call from Newark and Sherwood District Council, who informed her that dog wardens had discovered Casey in a car park in Nottinghamshire. “I burst into tears.” “I can’t describe it,” Carole said. “When your dog has been gone for two months, you just don’t think you’ll ever see him again.”
Casey, whose weight had decreased from 59 pounds to 35 pounds during his absence, was happy to be reunited with Carole.
