This small raccoon’s future appeared bleak when he was discovered alone on the side of the road. He was only a few weeks old when he became an orphan, left to face with the harsh world on his own. Even after he was rescued, the odds were still stacked against him because no animal rehabs in the area could accommodate him. Nikki Robinson, a wildlife rescue volunteer, then came in to help!
“They say, ‘Leave it alone and let nature take its course,'” Robinson told The Hasan jasim when asked what to do with an orphaned raccoon. “That shattered my heart. That was not going to happen!”
Nikki, a kindhearted woman, resolved to do everything she could to save that precious soul. However, because she was working all day, she called her mother, who was retired and searching for some companionship, particularly that of a newborn raccoon. They christened him Little Hands, and Nikki’s mother and the orphaned animal have been inseparable since then.
“She just sort of melted the first time she bottle-fed him and he gazed up at her,” Robinson added. “She was quite gentle to him at first since they want to be stroked a lot.” As a result, she formed a relationship with him.”
Little Hands made an astonishing recovery thanks to Nikki’s mother, and he was healthy enough to return to the wild within a few months. Even after they released him three to four months later, the woman who used to bottle-feed him left him some food in the back yard. That is, until the raccoon appeared to have wandered off the premises.
Little Hands, on the other hand, continues to pay visits to the woman who saved his life, despite the fact that it has been nearly three years since they first met.
“Every day, she sits outside and waits, and they’ll visit her even when they’re grown up, and she just lights up and she loves it,” Nikki said. “He wanted his cuddles, then his meal, and then he’d go off.”
