It’s amazing how a simple act of kindness can make such a huge difference in the life of an animal. This was certainly the case for a stranded Arctic fox who was rescued by a group of crab-fishermen off the coast of Labrador, Canada.
When Mallory Harrigan and her colleagues spotted a mushroom-shaped iceberg about four miles out at sea, they thought they saw a baby seal atop it. Upon closer inspection, they realized it was actually an Arctic fox who was stranded and unable to escape. The winds had changed, pushing the ice further out to sea, and the fox was in grave danger.
Without hesitation, Harrigan and her colleagues decided to rescue the fox. They pulled up alongside the iceberg and managed to get the frightened animal aboard their boat. Despite the fox’s resistance, they knew they were his only chance for survival.
Once aboard the boat, Harrigan and the crew offered the exhausted animal a makeshift bed and some food to help him regain his strength. The journey back to dry land was an emotional one, but they were all relieved when they finally made it back to the harbor.
Upon arrival, the crew set the fox free and watched as he shook himself off and trotted away. Though it was only a few minutes of their time, the simple act of rescuing the stranded animal made a huge difference in his life.
“We’re glad to have saved an animal,” Harrigan said, noting that the fox seems to be doing well and occasionally makes an appearance to remind his rescuers of the life they saved. “We can still see him from time to time!”
It’s heartening to hear stories like these, of people going out of their way to help an animal in need. With so many negative stories in the news, it’s important to remember that there are still good people in the world who are willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. The rescued fox is a testament to the power of compassion and kindness, and a reminder that even the smallest act of generosity can make a world of difference.

Thnku so much…I too feel like I’m rescued today about reading this story. Sometimes we have days where we need rescuing. I was there for rescuing my boss and work magic in a very nice healing touch for a young mom who hasn’t had a massage in 7 years. And a mother of 3 boys…it is trying for anyone these days to raise young people. Thank you to all the lovely people who rescue in the world.
