“It’s truly pretty much the only life she’s known.”
A couple discovered Chance in a fight with some other dogs seven years ago. She was only a puppy at the time, and they took her to The Haven Animal Care Shelter to receive her the medical attention she required for her injuries.
Dr. Brenda Wilbanks, founder and director of The Haven Animal Care Shelter, told The Dodo, “We brought her to the doctor and got her sutured up.” “As a result, her muzzle has some personality.”
The shelter believed that after she was cured, it wouldn’t take long to find Chance a loving home – but they were mistaken.
Chance has now been a resident of the shelter for more than seven years. She’s spent practically her whole life there, from puppyhood to almost her golden years, without a family. Chance has a lot of dread and anxiety because of her history, but she also has a lot of joy and love inside her, and it’s evident how hard she wants to give all of that to one lucky family.
Chance is constantly ignored by potential adopters because she is so timid around strangers. But once she opens up to you, all she wants to do is hug and be loved.
Wilbanks described her as “extremely bashful and scared.” “When someone comes in, she rushes to the rear of her kennel.” She likes walking on a leash, although she frequently needs to be carried to get past the other dogs at the shelter.”
Chance has the ability to build the most remarkable ties with individuals when given the proper space and time. It’s simply difficult to recognize it when you first meet her. Chance really wants someone to give her a chance more than anything else.
Chance is managing with shelter life, primarily because it’s all she’s ever known, but everyone who knows her is looking forward to the day when she’ll be able to leave the shelter and go on the finest adventures with the people she loves. But for the time being, she is still waiting.
“[She] appears to be doing well,” Wilbanks added. “It’s pretty much the only life she’s ever known.”
Chance would thrive in a peaceful household with no small children because she is often overwhelmed. She requires a permanent family who is patient with her as she adjusts to her new life. Aside than that, all she wants is love and a second chance.
