“We’ve never seen him have a bad day.”
Meet Chevy, the dog with a 1,000-watt smile.
The 9-year-old Pomeranian lives in Kettering, Ohio, with his mother and father. And, because to his constant grin, he’s become a bit of a local celebrity.
“He’s never had a poor day in our eyes.” “It simply makes us laugh,” Chevy’s mother, Tina Marcum Denlinger, told us. “Everything is a party. He rejoices when we go for a walk. He rejoices when there is food. He’s constantly cheerful.”
Chevy and his mom like going on hikes and camping trips. Chevy wears a little hat to keep the sun out of his eyes and sits in the front seat of his parents’ golf cart, where he rules the roost.
“He travels about on the golf cart and scans the entire area,” Denlinger explained. “Everyone knows who he is…. He just gets onto the cart and is restrained by a little harness. And it is his specialty. It’s almost as though he’s in a parade. He’s constantly cheerful.”
Chevy smiles naturally, although he also frowns on occasion. When the small puppy becomes chilly or uncomfortable, his joyful smile changes, and his parents recognize that something is wrong right away.
But the moment food or the leash are brought out, Chevy turns on the charm once again. Chevy is a senior dog, but you’d never guess it from his active, upbeat demeanor.
“Everyone thinks he’s a puppy because he’s so energetic,” Denlinger explained. “He does what we call’spin dry,’ spinning around everytime he wants anything. He completes a full circle.”
Chevy’s contagious smile can’t help but lift the spirits of his parents and everyone he meets on the street. There’s something about the small puppy that makes you smile. Chevy’s parents are confident he understands what he’s doing and enjoys spreading happiness wherever he goes.
“Everyone really loves him because he’s so cheery,” Denlinger added.
