That little face ❤️
Joey was born differently, but he’s never let that stop him.
The 3-month-old Chihuahua wants to do whatever his Vintage Pet Rescue foster siblings and sisters do. Even though he lacks front legs, he runs circles around the other dogs.
“Joey is one of the happiest dogs we’ve ever met,” Vintage Pet Rescue founder Kristen Peralta told The Dodo. “He has no idea he’s different, and he likes playing with toys, battling with the other dogs, splashing around on his splash pad, and getting cuddles.”
Joey never takes things lightly, whether he’s playing or sleeping. When the pup has exhausted all of his energy, he finds out the coziest spot in the house and falls asleep among his stuffed animal collection. He really adores snoozing with a Lamb Chop toy that is exactly his size.
“He’s still a puppy, so he’ll play hard and then slumber hard,” Peralta explained. “Joey enjoys cuddling up with his large stuffed animals and taking long naps… He is obsessed with his toys!”
Joey was surrendered to the Connecticut Humane Society before being rescued by Vintage Pet Rescue, which specializes on older and special needs canines. Peralta’s major goal is to make Joey feel at ease and secure at all times. That is, assuming she is able to apprehend him.
“Joey can hop up the stairs, hop up on the couch, and pretty much get anywhere he wants to go,” Peralta explained. “It’s fantastic to see him move about so well.” Nothing can stop him.”
Joey will be available for adoption when he has been neutered and fitted with a personalized wheelchair at Eddie’s Wheels for Pets. Peralta believes that, despite his unusual appearance, Joey’s effervescent, life-of-the-party personality will swiftly earn him a loving home.
“We expect hundreds of applications for him,” Peralta said. “But there can only be one Joey!”
