“I think he picked up on the fact that something was different about that day” ❤️️
Malcolm was a stray when he arrived at the Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL), and no one knew much about him. Malcolm, on the other hand, proved to be a quick study, and it didn’t take long for everyone to realize what a fantastic dog he is.
“Malcolm is quite a character,” a MARL employee, Tommy Sanfilippo, told The Dodo. “When visitors came into his kennel, he would frequently greet them with a toy in his mouth, prancing around in a circle with his entire backside happily wiggling.” He was always a simple dog to introduce to new volunteers; all you had to do was give him a few treats to break the ice and he was good to go.”
With such a positive personality, everyone assumed Malcolm would find his ideal home quickly, but that was not the case, and he quickly became the shelter’s longest-staying resident.
Malcolm sat and watched as other dogs were adopted while he waited. Fortunately, he didn’t seem to mind living in a shelter and quickly adjusted to the routine. He formed strong bonds with all of the staff and volunteers, and this is how he came to find his forever home.
Sanfilippo explained, “He was already good friends with his new mom; she met him while volunteering with us and had spent a lot of time hanging out with him.” “They even went on some outings together, such as to the park, the pet store, and her house.”
Everyone was ecstatic when the time came for Malcolm to leave with his new forever family. Malcolm, too, seemed to sense that it was a special day, and his smile said it all when it came time to take his first family photo.
Sanfilippo said, “I think he picked up on the fact that something was different about that day.” “His huge smile while posing for a photo with his new family is truly worth a thousand words.”
Malcolm was ecstatic to finally have a family, and he wasn’t squandering the opportunity. He trotted off into his new life with a big smile on his face, and while everyone at the shelter was sad to see him go, they couldn’t be happier for him.
Malcolm has made himself at home in his new home, and the 279-day wait for a family was well worth it. He adores his new parents and is looking forward to taking many more family photos.
“We’ve had several updates from his adopters, all of which have been fantastic,” Sanfilippo said. “He’s been on some fun adventures, gets a lot of cuddles at home, and is getting the love and consistency that helps a good dog become a great pet.” It’s an excellent match for him.”
