Every day, they regularly kiss each other across the fence. ❤️️
Pax was overjoyed to have a wide yard to run about in and fantastic new neighbors to meet when Emily and Justin Thomas and their dog, Pax, moved into their new house in October of 2020. Then Pax’s neighbors brought home a puppy named Penny, and it was love at first sight for him.
Emily Thomas told The Dodo, “When Pax and Penny met in March of 2021, she was only approximately 3 months old, but they played well together even then.” “Our neighbors decided to fence their yard as well, and even installed a rear gate so we could have playdates!” Pax began looking for her every time he went outdoors, and as soon as she was able to reach the top of the fence, we would see them greeting one other and ‘kissing’ over it every day when we looked out the window.”
Pax and Penny have been greeting each other and sharing kisses across the fence every time they’re both outside since then. They like exchanging toys over the fence as well, and have even played tug-of-war with a rope toy over the fence. Their parents make it a point to get them together for playdates in their own yards on a regular basis. Until it started snowing, nothing could keep them apart.
“While Pax enjoys the snow and would lie in a pile for as long as we allow him, Penny despises both snow and rain,” Thomas explained. “She wasn’t happy when we had a lot of snow in the last three weeks and didn’t want to go outside.” We saw him a lot standing at the fence, looking at their back door, obviously missing her.”
Pax was upset that Penny wasn’t there to meet him every day as she usually was. He couldn’t understand why he and his best buddy had to be separated so soon. Penny’s parents could see how upset Pax was at being away from her, so they devised a scheme to help.
They decided to attempt clearing a path from Penny’s house to the fence in the hopes of making her feel more at ease going outside in the snow. She was apprehensive at first, but she did it for Pax, and she eventually returned to her old location and was reunited with her closest buddy.
Penny found it easy to accept Pax’s acceptance of being in the snow after she realized he was fine with it. He helped her conquer all of her concerns, and the two of them would never be apart like way again.

“They were ecstatic to see one other, and she jumped right in once she had Pax to motivate her,” Thomas added. “They’ve been having snow play dates virtually every day since!”
Penny and Pax were clearly intended to be best friends, and they’re doing everything they can to ensure that nothing stands in their way.
