“It just proves how caring she is.” ❤️
Bailey is a sweet-natured senior dog who understands that giving love to others is its own reward.
And it’s obvious.
Bailey was just a few years old when her owners, Arthur and his family, rescued her in 2007. She’d been exploited as a breeding dog before that, most likely giving birth to litter after litter of kids she was forced to give up.
Bailey recently shown that, despite her age, she is still a mother at heart. And now she may show off her devotion.
It all started a few months ago, after she and her family relocated to a rural property.
Bailey’s family suspected a wild cat was living in a gully behind the property not long after they moved in. They put food out, but no one came to eat it. Meanwhile, their dog appeared to be doing some outreach as well.
“Bailey was checking up on them in the backyard,” Arthur told The Dodo.
It wasn’t apparent what Bailey was up to. But then her family happened to glance out the window one day and noticed this:
Bailey was sitting on the porch, snug as a bug.
She wasn’t, however, alone.
The wild kitten slept peacefully on Bailey’s warm body, comfortable in the presence of her unexpected new buddy.
“Bailey has never befriended a wild animal,” Arthur explained. “It just proves how caring she is.” She’s always been a sweetheart.”
Bailey’s family chose to follow their dog’s example after seeing how well he had earned the confidence of the timid cat. They, too, were glad to have the small cat in their lives.
Kitten-Kitten was her name given by her family.
“Kitten-Kitten is now living with everyone inside,” Arthur explained. “She follows Bailey around like a puppy,” says the narrator. It’s safe to say she’s now a member of the family!”
Bailey was able to not just be a mom, but also be a mom for the rest of her life for the first time.
“Kitten-Kitten enjoys being inside and mingling with everyone, particularly Bailey,” Arthur remarked.
Bailey was finally able to accomplish her dream of being a mother when she was 17 years old. And, in the end, her affection for the stray cat saved her life.
Kitten-adoptive Kitten’s family feels she might have battled to survive much longer if Bailey hadn’t intervened to save her. But, because to that act of charity, they were given a second opportunity.
Both of their hearts were also mended.
“They couldn’t be happier,” Arthur stated.
