While some photographers get inspiration from their surroundings, others, such as Marcella Pace, turn to the sky. The primary school teacher from Italy turns her lifelong interest in astronomy into attentive images of the Moon and Sun. Her previous project combined 48 different Moons into one hypnotic spiral-shaped collage. Similarly, her current project features 49 images of the Sun in a stunning rainbow of warm colors.
Many of us see our solar system’s Sun as a static image of a brilliant yellow ball. Pace’s series, on the other hand, demonstrates how dramatically the star evolves over the course of several years of research. Images of the sun in brilliant white, flaming red, and everything in between are included in this beautiful circular design.
Pace photographed the Sun at various times of day to highlight the range of hues that we typically take for granted, such as a crimson sunset or a golden morning. The clouds in front of the dazzling orb frequently form a dramatic pattern that makes the Sun appear striped from a distance. While it is not safe to stare at the real Sun for an extended period of time, Pace’s astrophotography series has made it simpler to observe its changing splendor.
Marcella Pace, an Italian photographer and astronomy enthusiast, captures stunning photographs of the Sun’s many colors.
