“I don’t think he realized there were humans inside his ride.”
G and her boyfriend had just arrived at the grocery store and were sitting in their car in the parking lot talking about what they were going to buy when they suddenly realized they weren’t alone.
A mouse was perched on the front of their car, and the couple was surprised to discover he’d been there the entire drive and they hadn’t noticed him.
“He seemed to be just chilling, exploring the windshield and hood area,” G (whose full name was withheld) told The Dodo. “I don’t believe he realized there were people inside his vehicle.”
The trip to the grocery store only took about five minutes, so the little mouse hadn’t been with us for too long. Regardless, he appeared to be fine and was simply enjoying the scenery from his new ride.
“I was mostly stunned when I saw him,” G said. “Because I’m from the city, seeing wildlife up close is always fascinating to me, and rodents don’t scare or bother me.” Actually, I thought he was quite adorable.”
The couple realized the mouse must have been riding in the car’s inner workings, which is why they hadn’t noticed him before. When the car came to a stop, the mouse apparently decided to investigate the location and decide whether or not he wanted to stay.
“He seemed to crawl up from a compartment beneath the windshield wipers beneath the hood, but it was separate from the engine compartment,” G explained. “We later opened the hood and looked in the nooks and crannies for a nest, but we didn’t find anything, so the mouse wasn’t in there for very long before we drove to the store.”
Even though he’d survived the drive, the couple was concerned for the little mouse’s safety and wanted to get him somewhere safe. G remembered she had some reusable grocery bags with her and decided to use one of them to assist in the relocation of the little guy.
“I’m not sure if I just got lucky or if my hidden talent is mouse whispering,” G said, “but he ran right into the bag.” “Perhaps it appeared to be a good hiding place after being out in the open on the car.” I took him over to a wooded area near the parking lot but away from the road, walked several meters in so he wasn’t released on the edge, and placed the bag on its side. He came out, sniffed around, got scared when he saw me, and dashed into the undergrowth.”
Apparently, the mouse had no idea there were humans around and was taken aback when he saw G. He assumed that the car and then the grocery bag had magically transported him to a lovely grassy oasis. Nonetheless, he appeared grateful for the assistance. The mouse arrived safely, and the couple will no doubt be on the lookout for more small hitchhikers in the future.

Not that I am a fan of mice but as I’ve gotten older I think they’re rather cute I just don’t want them in the house with me lol. This was such a cute story and that little mouse is adorable. I guess I’m a rodent lover because they say squirrels are rodents and I love love squirrels. I used to feed them right from my hand. But thanks for putting a smile on my face I just happen to have fallen apart this story. Thanks for sharing.
