“Even if we take him home, he will flee and come here to await my father.”
A dog named Boncuk has been the most frequent visitor to Medical Park Trabzon Karadeniz Hospital over the last week.
Every morning at 9 a.m., the small white dog appears and waits just outside the Turkish hospital’s sliding glass doors till sunset.
The dedicated dog initially came into contact with hospital workers when he accompanied the ambulance that brought his father, Cemal entürk, in for treatment.
Boncuk was taken home by entürk’s family, but the dog will not leave his father for more than a few hours. “Even if we take him home,” Aynur Egeli, entürk’s daughter, told Turkish news site DHA, “he runs away and comes here, waiting for my father.”
The dog never disturbs anybody; instead, he sits calmly at the front entrance, waiting for his owner to appear.
The medical staff has been won over by Boncuk’s loyalty, and they make special journeys outside to feed and visit him, keeping his spirits up. The hospital even planned a reunion for entürk and his puppy, enabling the dog to sit beside his father’s hospital bed and get pets.
Boncuk changed entirely when he saw his father again, smiling and wagging his tail for the first time in days.
Entürk told DHA, “Boncuk has been with me for nine years.” “I, too, miss him. He’s already accustomed to my presence. I call him from the window now and again, and he settles down a bit more here.”
According to The Independent, entürk was released from the hospital on Wednesday, and the tiny puppy was happy to have his father back home for good.
