This is the heartwarming video of a dog sneaking out of her kennel to snuggle with a pair of wailing newborn puppies.
Maggie, the hero Aussie shepherd mix dog, stepped up to aid the nine-week-old puppies who were in need of comfort.
The puppies were fosters from a local rescue group who were residing at the pet hotel until they found their forever home.
It was their first night together, and they were probably scared, but Maggie knew just what they needed.
Sandra Aldred, Maggie’s human, was out at dinner when she turned up the live stream of the pet hotel and noticed Maggie heading for the pup’s kennel.
Check out the touching video below:
She had just given birth to her own brood of puppies, which she had been removed from, so her mother instincts must have been strong.
“She’d do the little bow down to them and poke them through the chainlink fence of their room,” Aldred told CBC News. She basically determined she was going to stay there until we arrived to retrieve her.”
Aldred has suspicions Maggie escaped via a small hole in her kennel door after hearing the puppies scream.
“She was extremely thrilled, and then she pulled me back to their room as if to say: ‘I really need to meet these pups,'” she said when she returned to the hotel.
Aldred unlocked the pup’s cage and watched as Maggies snuggled up to the puppies and cuddled with them all night.
“They were all overjoyed to be together. The pups required her, and she required them. It was almost perfect.”
“We’ve observed that with male dogs as well; when they hear other puppies crying, they try to comfort them and make sure they’re secure.”
Despite the fact that Maggie had to leave the hotel soon after, the puppies were loved by the employees and were quickly adopted.
