As far as epic animal battles go, one between a bear and a tiger has to rank towards the top of the list.
Incredibly, tourists in India witnessed a vicious fight between a male Bengal tiger and a mother sloth bear defending her cub, all of which was captured on camera in a video that has gone viral on Facebook.
The fight took place in Tadoba National Park, where tigers and bears coexist and tend to avoid one other. The tiger, on the other hand, was having none of it this time. The male tiger appears to have violently pursued the mother bear and her youngster away as they attempted to make their way down to a watering hole, before the female sloth bear turns around and assaults the big cat.
A fierce fight occurred, with the huge tiger appearing to have the better of the bear at one point, pinning it to the ground. However, the sloth bear manages to break free and eventually turns the tables on the grumpy cat, chasing him into the waterhole itself before fleeing with the cub.
Akshay Kumar, Chief Naturalist of The Bamboo Forest Safari Lodge in Maharashtra, captured the remarkable clip during one of their regular safaris into Tadoba.
It appears that the fight between Shere Khan and Baloo was not that far-fetched after all, and you should never ever offend a mama bear.
