I can’t think of a more rewarding job for an animal lover than wildlife photography. You’ll never run out of opportunities to have one-of-a-kind, once-in-a-lifetime encounters with nature and its beautiful fauna. While the majority of the conversations depict nature in a sad light, a few are plain hilarious. And you’re bound to smile when you see this lovely encounter between a juvenile rhino and a videographer!
When cameraman Garth De Bruno Austin set out to photograph rhino poaching in South Africa, he knew he’d be confronted with those magnificent creatures. But he had no idea it would turn out to be such a pleasant experience. However, as he was recording the sequences, a newborn rhino approached him.
Austin was approached by a cute little rhino who approached inches away from him, probably out of curiosity more than anything else. But the man stood steady, knowing that the wild rhino would not hurt him, but rather would benefit him. The only thing the wild animal required was a belly rub, which the videographer happily supplied. Thankfully, the special occasion was recorded on film!
“If a rhino approaches you when you’re shooting and requests for a rub, rub that rhino like your life relies on it!” In the video’s description, Austin wrote: “Thank god she didn’t take my URSA Mini 4K camera!” says the narrator.
Despite the cuteness of the scenes, the cameraman advises against ever associating with a wild animal because it could go badly. Austin remarked, “I didn’t approach this animal; she chose to let me into her personal space and touch her.”
