We often assume that dogs and cats are the only critters capable of making us laugh, but as artist Emma Ward demonstrates, this is not the case. She captured her pet chameleon Olive clutching little toy toys in a short sequence of entertaining photographs. Ward equipped the green beast with miniature swords and combat axes, tweeting that the reptile will “grab everything you give them.” This is all happening while Olive watches, plainly unimpressed by their newfound authority.
Olive has received over 169,000 retweets since she tweeted the three photos of herself. Ward didn’t expect such a strong reaction, but the series is a wonderful match for her and Olive’s passions. Ward is a fantasy illustrator who likes making and collecting items from imaginary creatures and realms. Olive, on the other hand, is a fan of the little things. “I thought Lego swords and Evangelion weapons would be a fascinating concept,” Ward told Chron.com. “Knowing she likes to grip everything that goes in her hands, I thought Lego swords and Evangelion weaponry would be an interesting idea.”
