This rescued earless seal hugs a plush version of himself, which is one of the cutest things we’ve seen in a long time. The happy seal is a resident of Japan’s Hokkaido Prefecture’s Okhotsk Tokkari Center, where he was given a stuffed toy in his likeness by the staff.
The staff had no idea how attached the seal, who is being hand-reared after being rescued due to injury, would be to his new friend. Cuddles abound as he joyfully hugged his mini-me, even riding on his back!
The centre, Japan’s only marine conservation facility, is known for its care of earless seals. Tokkari is the Ainu word for an earless seal.
Knowing that this love story was too adorable to keep to themselves, the centre shared photos on Twitter. The public seemed to agree, as the tweet was shared over 26,000 times.
This earless seal even gives his stuffed buddy a piggy-back ride!
