Because of its brilliant luminous properties, watercolor paint is favored by many artists. The transparent media is used by artist Marcos Beccari to create serene images of people swimming in rippling ponds. He captures not only the motion of the waves but also the fascinating way that water refracts the picture of persons who are submerged.
Beccari, who is based in Brazil, blends his passion for the ocean and the arts in his watercolor paintings while also working as an adjunct professor at the Federal University of Paraná during the day. Typically, one or more individuals are submerged in lovely coves or lagoons in these brilliant compositions. Despite the fact that swimmers are frequently the subject of Beccari’s paintings, their features are rarely fully visible. The artist frequently distorts the features with swirling water or by having their backs to the viewer in order to maintain their anonymity. As a result, Beccari’s artwork exudes a romantic nostalgia that gives the viewer the chance to finish the story that the artist started in the picture.
To help him capture the light and select the ideal color palette, Beccari compiles a selection of photo references before beginning each new painting. “The images from motion pictures that most frequently inspire me usually offer me ideas for a sketch and inspire the painting process,” he says. And lately, I’ve been concentrating on a body buried in water just because it’s a gorgeous scene.
