Cat Discovers a Snake Trapped Outside The Window And Immediately Seeks Assistance

“Storm has alerted me to a baby bunny, frogs, a mole … and any time we have bugs in the house.”

Storm has always loved to express herself since she was a tiny kitten. She enjoys telling her family about the things she finds around the house and what she’s up to at any given time, and they’re always curious about what she’ll tell them next.

“Storm is very curious,” Storm’s mother, Caitlyn Hartley, told The Dodo. “She makes a lot of noise.” She’s a lot of fun and a lot of talker. She speaks to us frequently.”

One of the things that causes Storm to express herself the most is when she discovers an animal friend in need of assistance. There’s a small pocket outside her family’s basement window where wildlife can get stuck. Storm enjoys spending time in the basement, where she can play in her cat condo and slide around on the floor, so if an animal requires assistance, she is often the first to notice and will promptly notify her family.

“Storm has informed me of a baby bunny, frogs, and a mole… and whenever we have bugs in the house, such as stink bugs, spiders, beetles, you name it,” Hartley explained.

Storm was attempting to entice her mother to accompany her to the basement one day. Her mother assumed she just wanted to play, but when she got down to the basement, she discovered that someone else had gotten stuck, and the perpetrator gave her quite a scare.

“I was pretty much in shock,” Hartley admitted. “I wasn’t expecting a snake to get stuck there, especially one of his size.”

Storm, on the other hand, was unfazed and kept pressing her nose against the window in an attempt to make friends with the snake. It was as if she was saying, “Don’t worry, my parents will assist you!” They almost always do!”

Because it appeared that the poor snake couldn’t move at all, Storm’s parents quickly devised a rescue plan while Storm supervised.

“My husband opened that window from the inside to get the snake out… “[He] wore gloves, and when he opened the window and screen, he quickly and gently grabbed the snake and dropped him into the box I was holding,” Hartley explained. “I had to quickly lower the sides of the box so the snake didn’t jump back out.” I carried the snake outside and released it among the trees near our house.”

Fortunately, the snake appeared to be unharmed. He slithered off into the trees as if nothing had happened when he realized he was free. He went back to living his life, and Storm returned to patrolling the basement for animal friends who might require her assistance.
