Charming Silhouette Photos Use the Sun To Create Playfully Nostalgic Scenes

Sunsets offer a tranquil respite from the bustle of daily life, a chance to pause and revel in the natural beauty of the fading light. Rather than simply savoring this moment of calm, visual artist and photographer Sulabh Lamba transforms these daily occurrences into captivating art. His cinematic silhouette photos ingeniously incorporate the sun into imaginative and nostalgic scenes that celebrate life with a playful touch.

At just 22 years old, Lamba hails from the quaint village of Golia, located approximately 60 miles southwest of New Delhi, India. What began as a childhood hobby has evolved into a remarkable skill. The sun, with its dramatic hues and warm glow, serves as Lamba’s primary muse. Through a combination of clever perspective and digital editing, he brings a whimsical quality to his work, making the sun appear as a tangible, interactive object.

Lamba’s creativity shines through in his diverse compositions. He frequently captures images where the sun appears to be carried on someone’s back, or even leapt over as if it were an object of play. In one memorable photograph, a figure is seen kicking the sun towards another person, while in another, a glowing, sun-shaped flower is handed over from one friend to another. Each image conveys a sense of camaraderie, adventure, and lightheartedness, embodying moments of friendship and a hint of mischief.

Reflecting on his artistic journey, Lamba shares, “Initially, I didn’t make [the sun] my target. I love sunsets, more than sunrises, plus I saw many images on social media as well. They really inspired me, and I started creating that content. With time I got to know that I love images with backlight, silhouettes. So, I used my creative skills and made interesting images.”

Lamba’s innovative approach has garnered significant attention. With over 31,000 followers on Instagram, his online presence has grown exponentially since its inception. “In 2014, I saw an announcement of a National Geographic photo contest,” Lamba recalls. “So, for that, I made an Instagram account and posted my images for that particular hashtag.” What started as a single contest entry evolved into a flourishing portfolio and a steadily expanding audience. “I never thought this many people would ever join me in my journey,” Lamba reflects. “I am very thankful for all the love people shower on my work. With big numbers come big responsibilities. I have to make more amazing content for my audience now. I am getting love from foreign countries and my own people as well, and I feel really blessed.”

Through his cinematic silhouette photos, Sulabh Lamba transforms the ordinary sunset into an extraordinary canvas of creativity. His ability to playfully integrate the sun into his scenes not only highlights his technical prowess but also celebrates the simple joys of life. As he continues to innovate and inspire, Lamba’s work remains a testament to the power of art to capture and enhance the beauty of our everyday experiences.
