Milo, a 5-year-old tabby, has been Erika Longo’s only pet since he wandered into her apartment as a stray. But everything changed a year ago when his mother brought home a golden retriever puppy named Beckham.
The rescue cat is spoiled by his mother and always gets his way. Longo told The Dodo, “He has a very big personality.” “In life, he prefers the more expensive, higher-quality things.”
Milo was upset about having to share his mother’s attention when an excitable puppy appeared out of nowhere. “When we first brought Beckham home, he didn’t like him, and it’s taken him about a year to get used to him,” Longo said. “On occasion, Milo will cuddle up to him, and [Beckham] will lick him. At times, Milo becomes irritated with our dog and swats at him.”
“”It’s a love-hate thing,” she added.
The pup doesn’t seem to mind what his cat brother thinks of him; all he wants is to be near him. Longo stated, “Beckham absolutely adores and loves Milo and always wants to play or cuddle with him.”
Longo began crate training Beckham in April of last year. That’s when the astute cat devised a strategy to get rid of his baby brother — at least temporarily.

Milo goes into the dog crate whenever he is annoyed with Beckham. Beckham follows Milo into the crate because he always wants to be near him. Milo then makes an abrupt exit from the kennel.
“[He] usually stands at the crate’s opening for a little while just staring at Beckham,” Longo explained. “On occasion, he partially closes the door with his nose or paw. Milo usually comes over to me after that, wanting pets.”

Beckham believes he is unable to leave the crate even when the door is partially closed. Longo is forced to let Beckham out of the crate after providing Milo with the pets and cuddles he craves.
Longo wrote on TikTok, “This happens at least once a day.”
Milo has been locking his baby brother in the crate for three months, and the pup still hasn’t figured out the trick. The more time the two animals spend together, however, the closer they become. Even Milo can’t resist cuddling with his fluffy brother every now and then.
