Faa Mai is a generous and gentle elephant. She decides to share some of her meal with a flock of birds that are having difficulty opening it.
The elephant spots a flock of birds crowded around some nicely packed rice and banana pouches. She walks over and squishes them with her feet before being joined by Thong Ae and enjoying a bite together.
“Faa Mai wasn’t truly sharing with the birds,” you could think now. Faa Mai didn’t need to break open the packets, but she did so on purpose, according to the caregivers at Elephant Nature Park, a Thai sanctuary for rescued elephants. The two elephants were shooing the birds away since they don’t appreciate being disturbed while eating.
“At first appearance, these elephants appear to be unwilling to share their food with the birds. That, however, is not the case. It’s only that they don’t want to be disturbed when eating by the birds.”
“Take note of Faa Mai, who comes across the nicely wrapped rice and banana packs. It was difficult for the birds to open them. Faa Mai and Thong Ae could have simply eaten the packets, but she broke them open since she knew rice would be spilt if they didn’t consume some first.”
