It’s not just humans that get to enjoy pool parties. These kinds of exuberant gatherings, splashing and all, are also encouraged by bird baths. This wonderful video of a huge hummingbird bath was shot by backyard nature retailer Wild Wings, which specialises in fountains and feed. In less than a minute of video, 30 of the avian animals can be seen soaking up the chilly, bubbling water.
Hummingbirds flit into the scene, each with a distinctive bathing technique. While many people prefer to unwind in one location, others are more energetic. These anxious birds quickly dive into the water before quickly emerging from it again. Because the movie is so brief, it’s worth viewing it a few times to see the unique interactions that the hummingbirds have with the pool.
While seeing one or two birds in a bath at once is common, Wild Wings points out that this specific sight is unique since hummingbirds can be territorial and the calmness shown here is transient. “You’d never know they’d be bugging each other in five minutes,” they write.
This unique hummingbird bird bath is offered for sale by Wild Wings and was created to satisfy the preferences of the species. Please contact Wild Wings via their website if you’re interested in hosting your own avian pool party.
