Rescuers save baby sloth and help reunite it with its mother — see the sweet reunion

It’s a universal truth throughout the animal kingdom that mothers have a deep love for their young offspring, so it’s always heartbreaking when a mother is separated from her baby.

Recently, when a baby sloth was found all alone, rescuers found a clever way to find its mother — leading to a beautiful reunion.

On October 10, the Jaguar Rescue Center received a call from staff at Manzanillo National Park, in Costa Rica, who had found a baby three-finger sloth crying on the floor, separated from its mother.

The Jaguar Rescue Center responded and brought the baby sloth to the vet; thankfully it did not have any medical issues or injuries.

With the baby in good health, the next step was to try and reunite it with its mother — and used a clever solution to call the female sloth.

They made a recording of the baby sloth’s unique cry and played it off a speaker near where the baby was found, hoping the mama would hear the noise and respond to her baby’s cry.

Thankfully, the plan worked: the rescuers soon saw a female sloth responding to the sound. “It took around an hour to make the mom come down, but, finally, she did it,” Jaguar Rescue Center wrote.

Once the mother sloth climbed down, the rescuers handed the little one off to her. She then took the baby into her arms, no doubt relieved to have her child back, and climbed back up into the tree.

At the end of the video, the mama sloth seems to be smiling, as if grateful for the rescuers for saving her little one.

We are so excited to announce that we were able to reunite this mother and baby 3-fingered sloths (Bradypus variegatus).🦥 On October 10, we received a call from Manzanillo National Park letting us know that they found a baby crying on the floor. We went to his rescue and brought him for a check-up with the vet. Fortunately, he was healthy and didn’t have any injuries. The next day, our team went back to the park with the baby and played his cry on a speaker near the place where he was found. After a while, we spotted a sloth reacting to the sound a few meters away. It took around an hour to make the mom come down, but, finally, she did it. It fills our hearts with love every time we reunite a mom and her baby. #sloth #babysloth #momsloth #slothoftiktok #sloths #3finguersloth #foryou #parati #viral #cutesloth #jaguarrescuecenter #wildlife #costarica

How beautiful — we know this mother sloth must have been so distraught when her baby went missing, and so happy to have him back in her arms 🥹❤️
