Some believe she is the spirit of James Stuart’s daughter, nicknamed “Cross Peggy.” Others claim she is a former maid who met an untimely demise within the house. Another possibility suggests she’s a spirit from an abandoned graveyard beneath the nearby fields. On Halloween night, legend says the Grey Lady is joined by other spectral figures from the graveyard, making for a truly spooky spectacle.
