Getting stuck in a traffic jam is usually one of life’s biggest annoyances — but the sight of this smiling sloth was enough to melt even the angriest driver’s heart.
The adorable creature caused unexpected traffic chaos after he was spotted clinging onto a motorway barrier in Quevedo, Ecuador.
Despite appearing to be hanging on for dear life, the little sloth offered everyone a calm, beaming smile as authorities halted traffic to make sure he was safe.

Police officers attempted to gently remove him, but the stubborn sloth was not ready to let go.
Eventually, he was safely coaxed off the barrier and taken for a veterinary check-up before being released back into the wild.

The charming photo of the sloth quickly went viral, gaining over 36,000 likes.
The Comisión de Tránsito del Ecuador wrote on Facebook:

“We are grateful to all for your concern.
The rescued sloth was reviewed by a veterinarian, who determined he was in optimal condition to return to his habitat.
We appreciate everyone who cared about the animal’s well-being, and we will continue to support cases like this with the collaboration of citizens.”

Honestly, we would happily be stuck in traffic again if it meant seeing this precious little guy.
What to Do if You Find a Wild Animal on the Road — Important Safety Steps Drivers Must Know
Cases like this adorable sloth highlight an important reminder: knowing how to react when wildlife wanders onto roads can save both animal lives and human lives. Experts recommend following these essential steps:

- Never attempt to grab or chase the animal — this can frighten it and lead to injury.
- Keep a safe distance and turn on hazard lights to alert other drivers.
- Call local wildlife authorities immediately so trained professionals can respond.
- Avoid feeding wild animals, as this can make them dependent on humans and disrupt their natural behavior.
- If it’s safe, create a protective space by slowing or stopping traffic until help arrives.
Wildlife crossings are becoming increasingly common worldwide due to habitat loss and expanding roads. Understanding how to respond responsibly can prevent accidents, protect endangered species, and promote safer coexistence between humans and nature.
