Video showing reality of Egypt pyramids may put a lot of people off visiting

For decades, the Egyptian pyramids have stood as awe-inspiring symbols of ancient civilization, attracting countless tourists eager to explore their mysteries. However, a recent TikTok video posted by @touchdalight, also known as Carmie Sellitto, has sparked a warning for prospective visitors, shedding light on the potential challenges and hazards of exploring these iconic landmarks.

In the viral video, Sellitto takes viewers on a virtual tour inside the pyramids, offering a glimpse into the less glamorous side of this famous attraction. He begins with a caption that sets the tone: “You need to be seriously careful if you come here.”

Sellitto proceeds to list three reasons why people should ‘never visit’ the pyramids, starting with the physical demands of the journey. The YouTuber describes the arduous ascent into the main part of the pyramid, where visitors must navigate narrow passages and climb bent-double for 30 to 40 minutes in sweltering heat.

“It’s like an obstacle course,” Sellitto remarks, emphasizing the physically taxing nature of the experience. He even highlights a dangerous incident where his friend accidentally hit her head on a tunnel-like walkway, emphasizing the hazards that lurk within.

The video captures tourists maneuvering through tight spaces, ducking and weaving to navigate the challenging terrain. Some are seen gripping the bannisters for stability, underscoring the precarious nature of the interior.

Sellitto’s second reason takes a more lighthearted tone, focusing on the absence of air conditioning inside the pyramids. He jokingly remarks, “We were living in 2023,” highlighting the discomfort visitors may face due to the lack of modern amenities.

In an unexpected twist, Sellitto presents the third reason not to visit the pyramids: the experience is so extraordinary that it becomes a once-in-a-lifetime event. Despite the challenges, he suggests that the sheer epicness of the adventure makes it unforgettable.

While Sellitto’s video provides a humorous take on the drawbacks of visiting the pyramids, it’s essential to recognize the historical significance of these ancient structures. Recent discoveries, such as a hidden nine-meter passageway inside the Great Pyramid of Giza, showcase that despite being thousands of years old, the pyramids continue to unveil secrets.

The ongoing efforts of projects like Scan Pyramid, utilizing advanced scanning technology and infrared thermography, aim to unravel more mysteries concealed within these architectural wonders. As Mostafa Waziri, the head of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities, notes, “Scanning work will continue to uncover more secrets,” ensuring that the allure of Egypt’s pyramids remains intact for future generations of curious explorers.
