When a bear rescued from a bile farm realizes he’s finally free, he has the loveliest reaction. The big animal, who has been kept in small cages for over a decade, can’t believe his eyes as he sees himself swimming for the first time. His out-of-control delight was captured on film, and it’s nothing short of touching!
But none of this would have been possible if it hadn’t been for the kind folks at Animals Asia, a Hong Kong-based charity dedicated to helping animals in need. So many wild animals have been spared as a result of their efforts. Tuffy, a lunar bear, experienced something similar. The sweet bear was confined and used for medicinal purposes at a bile farm for much too long.
Tuffy finally had the chance to live a tranquil life after 9 years and a lot of work from animal rights activists. The bear was transferred to one of Animals Asia’s shelters after being rescued from the deplorable conditions in which he had been forced to live. However, the poor bear’s difficult existence has left him with far too many physical and mental scars.
Tuffy was able to thoroughly enjoy his time of freedom despite his limited vision and many woulds in his jaw. The rescued bear is set to swim for the first time in his life after being taken to a wonderful refuge in Vietnam. But not before having surgery and recovering completely!
“After years of little or no water, this must seem like a real paradise for Tuffy after being dehydrated and in misery for so long,” Animals Asia’s Louise Ellis said on the organization’s website.
Keep an eye on the emotional scene. When Tuffy enters a pool for the first time, he leaps with excitement like a newborn!
