“He becomes attached to another family while ignoring me.”
When it’s time to leave the park, some dogs may defy their owners’ wishes by pretending to be dead. Oso, on the other hand, takes a somewhat different strategy.
“You’re dead to me,” he says.
Oso enjoys nothing more than spending time with his owner, Carolina Paludi, at the neighborhood park. So much so that when it’s finally time to go home, Oso usually complains. But he does it in a more nuanced way than others.
When Paludi informs him it’s time to leave, Oso walks off and sits with other park visitors, peeking back as if to demonstrate to his mother how easily he can find a new family if he doesn’t get his way.
Here’s a video showing Oso in action, along with some random folks he’s identified as prospective “replacement” persons:

“Every time it’s time to leave the park, Oso does this,” Paludi told The Dodo. “He becomes attached to another family while ignoring me.”
Oso may occasionally go on to demonstrate how well he fits in with his “new” park family — and how easily Paludi can be forgotten.
He’s doing yoga with a group of folks he’s never met before:

Oso tries this all the time, but it never works.
Paludi is well aware that he is only bluffing.
People that Oso pretends to adopt — ostensibly to spite his mother — don’t appear to mind that the dog has enlisted their help in his charade.
Deep down, Oso understands that his mother loves him the most — and that she is just irreplaceable.
