Definitely not a dog 😂
Katie Rogers was waiting for her husband to arrive so they could conduct some errands outside her home in South Lake Tahoe, California, when she observed what she believed was the neighbor’s dog hanging out behind the car. She didn’t think much of it until she discovered it wasn’t her next-door neighbor’s dog.
“At first glance,” Rogers explained, “I observed one of my neighbors standing ahead of my car, appearing like he was out for a stroll with his dog.” “However, his face was strangely expressionless, and he pointed to the ‘dog’ I thought was sniffing around my car, [and I realized] it was actually one of the local bear cubs.”
The curious cub continued being sidetracked by everything around him as the neighbor tried to gently shoo him down the street and away from traffic, where he would be safe. Rogers was both happy and unsurprised to see the cub so near to her car.
“The Tahoe bears are highly accustomed to humans, and I saw them virtually every week throughout my time there,” Rogers explained. “Most of the time, they’re easily scared away by applauding, screaming, or anything.” With some success, I’ve even employed my best ‘disappointed mom’ voice!”
The cub ultimately left, but he returned later to check the couple’s dumpster to see if there was anything edible in there. There wasn’t, unfortunately, but no one can blame him for trying.
