Wild Foxes in Snowy Landscapes are captured in a real-life fairytale by a photographer

Red foxes are known to flourish in close proximity to or amid numerous human contexts, although despite their abundance, we seldom see them. Roeselien Raimond, a Dutch wildlife photographer, has spent the past nine years attempting to capture these elusive critters who reside in the hills surrounding her village. Fairytale Foxes, her most recent work, depicts the tenacious red foxes relishing the winter snow.

Raimond’s neighborhood transforms into a winter wonderland when the first snowflakes fall. “My contemporary, metropolitan, and slightly congested environment has mysteriously changed into a scene from a Charles Dickens novel,” she explains. “Though the scenario is beautiful, something appears to be lacking. Some enchantment, some glimmer, anything.” Raimond’s fairytale characters are majestic red foxes, whom she characterizes as “adventurous, clever, charming, and a little wicked.”

Raimond goes in quest of her fantasy foxes in the snow-covered countryside, camera in hand. Individual foxes soon emerge from the wonderful silence. Their crimson fur coats stand out against the white background, emphasizing their enigmatic attractiveness. “She embellishes my white canvas just so brilliantly,” Raimond says of one specific fox.

Raimond learned through time that no two foxes are same, and they all have their own distinct personalities. Her photographs depict a variety of unique woodland foxes, from lively puppies to royal adult foxes, each one full of emotion and character.
