“The puppy was crying in my arms.”
Sammy adored her father above all else. He had just started his life with the 12-week-old Doberman mix when he unexpectedly passed away.
Fortunately, two sympathetic EMTs in Fort Worth, Texas, stepped in to assist, and it improved everyone’s life.
Tegan Sliva, the EMT who attended to the call, explained to us, “I spotted the puppy nestled up next to the patient, so I took her up.” “I held the whimpering puppy in my arms.”
Sammy didn’t want to leave the only family she had ever known because she was heartbroken and terrified. Sammy had nowhere to go but a shelter when Sliva and her EMT partner Kirk found her, and they couldn’t let that be her fate, so they took her in.
While we were packing up our gear, we took her to the ambulance, Sliva added. She was covered in dust, so we cleaned her up with wet wipes and gave her water.
Sammy was watched by Kirk’s girlfriend while he finished his task. However, Sammy had found her new family before the end of the evening.
Sammy’s rescue can be seen here:
Sammy experienced a horrible loss that day, but things quickly improved.
She now belongs to Kirk and has a big sister named Kaley, according to Sliva. She is quite playful and enjoys running with her. She is joyful in life.
Sammy’s life will always be filled with memories of her father, but for now, she has a second chance to create new ones.
